It is regarded as a high priority classification and hence the US government has not imposed any annual number ceiling on this category and the family members of applicants can obtain permanent resident(Green Card)rapidly. Family members regarded as immediate relative includes following relations:Spouse, Unmarried and dependent children under 21 years of age,Parents (if the US citizen is above 21 year of age).

STEP 1
File Form I-130 Petition
The U.S. sponsor files Form I-130 with proof of relationship (e.g., marriage/birth certificates)；
STEP 2
Wait for Priority Date & NVC Processing
Preference categories must wait for the Priority Date to become current. Case transfers to National Visa Center (NVC) for DS-260 and Affidavit of Support (I-864)；
STEP 3
Consular Interview
Attend interview at U.S. embassy/consulate with police/medical certificates. Receive immigrant visa, valid for 6 months to enter the U.S；
STEP 4
Adjust Status if in U.S.
File Form I-485 to adjust status if beneficiary is lawfully present in the U.S.
